The products of the phenol ketone industry chain mainly include phenol, acetone, bisphenol A (BPA), polycarbonate (PC).

Phenol and acetone are important chemical raw materials. Phenol is an organic compound that is a colorless needle-like crystal with a special odor. The downstream industry is mainly used as an important raw material for bisphenol A (BPA), phenolic resin, fungicides, preservatives, and drugs (such as aspirin). Phenol was first recovered from coal tar, and most of it was synthesized by synthetic methods. By the mid-1960s, the cumene process was gradually used to produce phenol and acetone.

Acetone is a colorless and transparent liquid. The first major use in the industry is as a solvent in explosives, plastics, rubber, fiber, leather, grease, spray paint, etc. It is also can be used as raw materials for bisphenol A (BPA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), isopropyl alcohol (IPA) preparation.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an important derivative of phenol and acetone. It is mainly used to produce polycarbonate, epoxy resin, polysulfone, polyphenylene ether resin and other polymer materials. It can also be used in plasticizers, flame retardants, antioxidants, heat stabilizers, rubber antioxidants, pesticides, paints, and other fine chemical products.

Polycarbonate (PC) is a tough thermoplastic resin. The most used preparation method is “melt transesterification”. Polycarbonate (PC) materials have flame retardancy and oxidation resistance and are mainly used in electronics, home appliances, automobiles, and other fields.
