Propylene: A brief analysis of the import and export of propylene in November

In November, my country's propylene market fluctuated and rose. The mainstream average price in the East China market was 7,089 yuan/ton, and the average price of imported goods was 899.45 US dollars/ton, equivalent to about 7,352.92 yuan/ton. During the month, the main downstream polypropylene market continued to be weak, restricting the demand for raw material propylene. However, in the middle and late months of the month, due to the reduction in production of some cracking units and PDH units, the supply in the Asian region tightened, and the spot market quotations rebounded. In that month, my country's propylene import volume increased compared with the previous period, while the export volume remained at a low level.

Import side:

According to customs statistics, in November 2022, my country imported 295,234.839 tons of propylene, with an import value of 265,548,030 US dollars. The average monthly import price was about 899.45 US dollars/ton, and the import volume increased by 82.95% from the previous month and 44.44% from the same period last year.

In November, my country's propylene trading partners decreased in order of import volume to South Korea, China Taiwan, Japan, etc. The propylene from South Korea was 152,308.76 tons, accounting for about 51.59% of the import volume. The amount of propylene from the United States is only 0.907 tons.

In November, the registered places of enterprises importing propylene were mainly concentrated in East China. Among them, Zhejiang Province had the largest import volume, reaching 129,422.44 tons, accounting for 43.84%, followed by Fujian Province and Shanghai.

Export:

According to customs statistics, my country exported 136.371 tons of propylene in November 2022, an increase of 12.95% from the previous month and a decrease of 98.96% from the same period last year. The export value reached US$559,200, and the average export price was about US$4100.58/ton.

The amount of propylene exported this month is small, and the amount of propylene sold to various places is less than 50 tons. The registered places of enterprises exporting propylene are mainly concentrated in Zhejiang Province, and the trade methods are all general trade.
