Ethylene glycol: brief analysis of import and export in September

According to customs statistics, my country imported 618,400 tons of ethylene glycol in September 2022, an increase of 3.39% from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 3.07%. The accumulated imports during the year were 5.8084 million tons, a decrease of 8.11% from the same period last year. The import value of the month was 324.7729 million US dollars. Since May this year, the average import price of ethylene glycol has been declining.

In September 2022, Saudi Arabia still ranked first in imports, but it was 13,500 tons less than in August, accounting for 56.64% of total imports. Canada still ranked second, accounting for 16.83%, and the United States ranked third, accounting for 10.06%. In September, the import volume of many countries decreased, among which the United States was the most obvious, with a decrease of 15,400 tons compared with August, while the import volume from Taiwan, China increased most significantly, with a month-on-month increase of 14,500 tons.

On the whole, the domestic plant started at a low level in September, the output continued to shrink, and the export volume also decreased significantly, a month-on-month decrease of 69.62%, and the import dependence of ethylene glycol rose to 43%.
