Polyvinyl chloride resin (PVC) is one of the five synthetic polymer materials in the world, which is second only to polyethylene in global output. Due to the good physical and chemical properties of PVC, its downstream building materials, electronic materials, daily consumer goods packaging and other products, has been widely used in industry and agriculture, construction, transportation, power and telecommunications industry and packaging and other fields. Plasticizer is a kind of functional fine chemical, which is added to the polymer material, can increase the plasticity of the material, make it easy to process, and give the plasticizer product softness, it is a kind of most important additive for plastic and rubber processing. PVC plasticizers are mostly organic compounds with ester structure, and there are many kinds of them, but the production and consumption of phthalate plasticizers is the largest. 

In 2018, the total production of plasticizers in China is about 5.5 million tons, of which the actual consumption of phthalate plasticizers accounts for 75% of the total amount. Its representative products are dioctyl phthalate (DOP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and diiso-butyl phthalate (DIBP). Phthalic plasticizers are characterized by simple synthetic process, wide raw material sources, low price and excellent comprehensive performance. However, with the improvement of global environmental protection requirements, more and more attention has been paid to their potential human toxicity. At present, medical products, children's toys and food packaging and other PVC products that may have close contact with the human body, the safety of additives is the development trend of PVC industry.
