Ethylene glycol: a brief analysis of import and export in October

According to customs statistics, my country imported 602,100 tons of ethylene glycol in October 2022, a decrease of 2.64% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 6.07%. The import amount of the month was US$312.6641 million, with an average price of US$519.32/ton, a decrease of US$5.9/ton from the average price in September.

In October 2022, Saudi Arabia still ranks first in imports, accounting for 62.60% of total imports, an increase of 5.96% from the previous month. Canada still ranks second, accounting for 115.41%, and the United States ranks third, accounting for 9.21%. In October, the import volume of various countries rose and fell. Among them, Singapore and South Korea increased most significantly, increasing by 3933.49% and 389.95% respectively compared with September, while Iran decreased most obviously, which was 56.50%.

In October, the export volume of ethylene glycol was 1498.81 tons, a month-on-month increase of 17.17%, a year-on-year decrease of 70.67%, and a total of 35044.59 tons of exports throughout the year. The average export price is US$804.23/ton, an increase of US$9.56/ton compared with September, and the cumulative average export price is US$820.43/ton.

Against the background of oil prices, both domestic and foreign installations have experienced different degrees of reduction in production, and the import volume has dropped significantly compared with last year. With the continuous expansion of domestic production capacity, the dependence on imports has also decreased, falling to 38% in October.
